In the men’s triple jump, Spain’s Jordan Díaz won gold by two centimetres from Pedro Pichardo of Portugal. In the women’s shot put, Yemisi Ogunleye won gold with a huge throw of 20m, while Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet triumphed in the 10,000m. In the women’s heptathlon, Nafi Thiem won her third Olympic title, while the men’s 4x100m relay was won by Canada and the women’s by the USA.
There’s plenty more to look forward to today with medals handed out in the men’s marathon, men’s high jump, women’s javelin, women’s 100m hurdles, women’s 1500m, men’s 5000m and the 4x400 relay finals. If that’s not enough to get excited about, there is also the men’s high jump final where dual gold medalists from Tokyo, Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy and Qatar’s Mutaz Barshim, will both be in action.
